[Wargaming] Mechs for Battletech
I thought I'd go ahead and post a couple pics of my 6mm Battletech project. Early -25 I got a hankering to paint something vastly different than my ordinary meat-and-turnips historicals.
My focus in wargaming, especially painting and modelling, tends to migrate between eras and theatres at a fairly quick pace. Even though this lends itself to not getting bogged down in something for a long time, I try to plop something completely different in between bigger (or arduous) projects.
He Protecc!
The mechs are such a side-project.
I have never played BT to any greater degree and when I decided what mechs to paint I just went by the rule of cool. Ever since I saw an AT-ST the first time on screen, chickenlegged bipedal walkers has been just about the coolest thing in sci-fi for me. So obviously I had to resinprint a couple each of CaptainFathoms Cicadias and Fleas.
While browsing around I also stumbled upon a pack of Hunchbacks made by MiniHulkMechs and promply printed all six variants.

I decided 10 models were enough for the time being and got to painting them in a mix of new and traditional techniques. I tend to do a happy medium (pun intended) nowadays as the fad of speedpainting everything has lost it's somewhat of it's charm the past couple of years.
From the ground up they are painted with a white undercoat, dark grey contrast followed by quick drybrush. Then on to blockpainting with acrylics, simple highlights and a diluted black wash. A few details and panel-lining finished the job.

I am pretty happy with them, apart from the bases. I ran out of resin and had to churn them out on the FDM-printer and as such the details on the warning-stripes are impossible to get sharp. Oh well, 3 foot rule does take care of that in the end. Still to get them on the table but there is no real rush. Alot of other fun games that has my focus the the moment.
