[Solo RPGs] Some more 2D-tokens & D100 Dungeon
I had the need for more tokens as I have ventured (back) into D100 Dungeon by Martin Knight. By sheer luck I stumbled upon the latest edition of Book 1-6 in the series on an auctionsite for a really good price. IIRC I ended up paying just about £20 for the books and the shipping, which is less than the price of the first book!
D100D was the first ever selfcontained solorpg I played and as such.. Well, first love-sayings and all that aside, it is a really good crawl-experience.
For those that have not played or flipped thru the game there are alot of good reviews out there, so I will keep mine short.
1 - It´s a dungeonesque area-crawl where you generate & draw an underground complex on a grid. There is a huge chunk of abstraction as each area is on a 3x3 grid but if you were to "zoom in" there are alot rooms, corridors and features in the area. Think of it like more of creating a gods eye view rather than drawing separate rooms.
2 - You are THE Hero. Loads of monsterhacking.
3 - It´s completely self-contained, so you truly don´t need anything else apart from the book.
4 - It´s somewhat heavy/granular with quite alot of moving parts and fiddly bits.
Final score: Great for contained crawls and long campaigns but can be a bit 'whelming for completely new players/10.
In either case, having played a fair amount of previous editions, I since moved on and never really meant to buy the newer editions on pdf, much less physical copies. With the gods smiling upon me and grating me this boon however.. I´m back into D100D!
As such, I wanted more tokens to have a bit more tactical fights than the system allows for. So I made some using Dungeon Detritus and added a sprinkling of the missing art with Tlomdevs Tokens.

I have now every monster needed to run fights up to '60' on the Encountertable available. The keen reader will notice the different backgroundcolors on these as compared to my previous batch.
Red is for generally hostile things, demonic or otherwise plain evil.
Brown is for animals (and later) neutral-esque humanoids.
Of course I have made life at the same time easier and harder by playing D100D with White Box:FMAG and only using the tables from the former.
My review of WB:FMAG?
Best OSR I have played. 9.5/10.
