[Wargaming] Some Venusian Wars WIP.
Been putting a few hours into my 15mm Venusian Spacepunk-project as of late. When Nordic Weasel released their ruleset for victorian sci-fi, Venusian Hammer, I just had to get cracking on some vicky-punk stuff again.
Thought I'd post a WIP when it comes to the natives buildings and some softscape (any fellow aquarists?) in the form of random flora to scatter around the table. Everything is printed in PLA with 0.2 layers and then basecoated in acrylic caulking (with paint mixed in), which is quickly becoming my favourite way of doing wargames-terrain.
Spray-filler is great, but it's quite spendy for bigger projects. A tube of caulking is a couple of moneys and what you see in the pictures used like 25% of a tube. Hard to beat to be honest, especially since I bought 4 tubes for €3.99 for the project on sale.
Some housing for my upcoming venusians. Envisioning myconids as my first alien faction.
As always, I'm second-guessing my choise of colors when I take on a new project. This time around the palette as a whole seems to dark, I envisioned something much brighter and fey-like than it's turning out to be. No way to know until everything is on the table of course and I guess I can brighten everything up a couple notches at that point.
Still debating on having the flora loose or to mount them on bigger area-bases. Both approaches have their merits and drawbacks as always.
First layers of paint.
In the pipeline are some dedicated rocky outcrops and a custom acrylic playmat to round out the project in terms of it being fully playable. I will most likely make it 90x120cm (3x4') so I can play both skirmish-style games aswell as company-level engagements without it being to crowded. Oh, and a bunch of cavewalls to do underground battles within.
